WHAT'S NEXT?
The inspiration for this phrase is pulled from one of my favorite tv shows, "The West Wing", in which characters, mainly President Jed Bartlet (masterfully portrayed by Martin Sheen), frequently ask each other "what's next?" when they are ready to move on from an issue and take on the next challenge in the daily rigor of working in the White House. It's often used to transition from one big, dramatic moment to the next, which will require the staff to shift their mindset to move forward.
I've taken this phrase as part of my personal ethos. working through big moments - whether it's an unexpected career change such as a layoff, or taking a leap of faith to leave your company for a new opportunity - I've found it's important to take a second to process, and then move on to the next challenge.
